Getting free newsletter content can be quite hard especially if you are looking for it in the wrong place.
A content rich newsletter is a great way of keeping in touch with your audience. It can be sent on a daily, weekly or even a monthly basis depending on what you judge suitable.
The problem, however, is that many webmasters feel unable to sustain it. Sometimes, you feel that you have run out of things to say.
If you have ever been in such a position, then don’t fret. There are just too many things to write a newsletter about. Here are some tips that will help you generate free quality content for your newsletter very easily and quickly :
Forums. Hanging around in forums can help you find great newsletter topic ideas and content as well. Make a list of the most popular forums in your niche.
Check these forums regularly to see what people in your niche are babbling about. By doing just that you will be doing yourself two great favors :
- You will keep yourself updated of events and things that are taking place in your niche
- You will find great newsletter ideas, topics and content
Your subscribers will be very grateful for you as you keep them up to date, they will regard you as an authority in your niche and trust you even more.
Blogs. If you are too lazy to do your homework, then you may wish to let others do it for you. Scanning the blogs in your niche is one of the best ways of coming with great newsletter content. Fellow bloggers may be aware of things that you probably missed out or did not have the chance to check in person.
By reading your competitors’ blogs, you save a lot of effort and time. You may also subscribe to their RSS feeds so that you can read all their recent posts in your RSS reader without having to visit each one of them. This will ensure that you miss none of their posts too.
News Sites. Google news and the like websites are a great source for newsletter content. Checking these websites every now and then, can help you come up with smashing newsletter stories. Don’t forget to check the breaking stories as well as the archives of these sites, you never know where the hidden gems are laid. You don’t have to check every story there, focus on the ones related to your niche.
Article Directories. This is a method that I use very often when I need either newsletter content or website content. These directories offer thousands of articles about a plethora of topics.
You can copy the articles and use them as they are, or better off, you can rewrite them. To avoid issues of duplicate content, I usually rewrite these articles and optimize them so that they serve the interests of my audience.
Yahoo Answers. Browsing through the questions people ask in your niche can be inspiring. You can take those questions and answer them in your newsletter. Certainly, some of your subscribers may have the same questions but has not had the chance to ask them.
This technique will further strengthen the bond with your list, because it shows that you are aware of their problems, and providing solutions before they even ask you.
Surveys. Probably the best way for finding newsletter content is by asking your subscribers what they want you to write about. You may send them an email with a list of suggested topics and ask them to choose from it. Or you may as well make it an open survey. This way you can be sure you are providing your list with the info they want, not the one you choose for them.
If you take this step, your subscribers will consequently be more responsive to your offers because they see you as a caring friend, not a manipulative marketer. After all, that’s what you are trying to build, a responsive list, not just a list.
This list of content-generating techniques is by no means comprehensive, there are several other ways that one can use to develop quality newsletter content.
