Your newsletter design is just as important as its content. Have you ever wondered why companies spend huge amounts of money on designing product covers. The answer lies simply in the fact that the first thing that attracts people to a book or product is the way it looks.
A great product that is poorly packaged will sell poorly. People will say if the company is not able to design a good cover then it is most unlikely to create a good product.
Here are a few tips to help you design better newsletters :
Keep It Simple
Graphics are important when creating a good newsletter design. But don’t overuse them. It is always good one or two images in your newsletter article. But if there are too many, your readers may get distracted and you may not get your main point through.
Another issue with the overuse of graphics is that your newsletter will take much longer to load. Some subscribers may just get putt off by this and may not read it at all.
Use Multiple Columns
A common mistake so many people make when designing a newsletter is making it look like a book. Web surfers are scanners not readers.
People are not comfortable reading from a screen they just scan articles for any interesting points. When they find one they stop by to read it, and once done they carry on scanning.
By placing all your content in one column, you make it more difficult for your readers to scan it. Some may take the trouble to read it, some others may just skip it.
Using multiple columns makes your lines shorter and gives your newsletter the look of a reader-friendly newspaper column.
